Tech Talk: TIM Wind – Technical Information Management for the Wind Industry

26. september 2023 – 14:00 – 15:00 Online

Since late 2019, a close group of OEMs and utilities has worked on setting up a project to create a common ground for documentation and reference designation requirements between wind turbine manufacturers and operators.

The initiative is called TIM Wind – Technical Information Management for the Wind Industry. This project aims to create a clear and unambiguous interpretation of the existing standards and develop new standards that can be applied in the wind industry.

Currently the TIMWind consortium is working in the following Work Streams:

WS1 – DCC — Document kind Classification Codes
The purpose of this workstream is to establish a clear documentation classification and designation method and standard that does not leave room for doubt or interpretation. It will build on IEC 61355 and explain how to apply DCC in the wind industry.

WS2 – RDS-PS for Wind (WTG)
Establish an industry framework for reference designation that enables digitalization throughout the value chain by building on a format which enables open-source digital exchange.

WS3 — Content Requirements
Develop an Industry recommendation that specifies which information the OEM shall deliver to the customer.

WS4 — Standardized data flows — API
Create a best practice way to transfer data in machine readable format from the turbine manufacturers to their customers. The first outcome of the workstream will be to focus on developing a cookbook for a data model and API targeted at the performance curves specified in the Product Specification documents for type turbines.

WS5 — RDS-PS for Wind BoP (Foundations
Same purpose as for WS2 — but focused on BoP where WS2 is focused on the WTG.
