Tech Talk: Digitized CCUS

6. november 2024 – 15:00 – 16:00 Online

We will present how digitization can be developed and help CCUS being more efficient and optimized.

Hear about the progress in developing and new experimentation with the new CO2 digital twin. Green Twins is the data-driven digital-twin platform aimed to virtually represent, optimize, and eventually control carbon capture in industrial processes, and to minimize the energy cost associated with it.

The project is at the cutting edge of digital applications for carbon capture and shows a potential to be scaled-up. Currently, Innomissions applications have included modelling work as a supporting activity; in Green Twins, models take the center stage and experiments are the support.

CapSim aims to improve CO2 capture simulation technology by focusing on two key areas:

  • Improving the core multiphase reactive algorithm to enable us to handle complex reactions and multiphase equilibrium efficiently and robustly
  • Better integrate thermodynamics, kinetics, and transport phenomena into the simulation, emphasising their impact on simulation results

Hear how CapSim tackles algorithmic and thermodynamic challenges associated with CO2 capture simulation, and how It seeks to overcome challenges related to acidic gases, speciation, reactions, and thermodynamics.

Be introduced to how CapSim are addressing algorithmic challenges, be presented for the preliminary thermodynamic models and process uncertainties, and possibly optimizations.
