Energy cluster is to be headquartered in Aalborg

Companies and researchers will get a single entrance point to collaborations on energy innovation when Energy Cluster Denmark on 1 July 2020 brings together the Danish energy innovation into a single cluster. Energy Cluster Denmark will have six offices throughout the country along with headquarters in Aalborg.

Nationwide energy

Right before the summer holidays, a united Danish energy sector is establishing Energy Cluster Denmark. Denmark’s new energy cluster is established with broad support from energy technology companies and knowledge institutions and is built on the basis of the three cluster organisations Energy Innovation Cluster, House of Energy and CLEAN Energi.

The board of the new energy cluster has appointed Glenda Napier as the new CEO of Energy Cluster Denmark. The next step towards the launch is the placement of the headquarters for the organization, and here the choice has been Aalborg.

“There has been broad support for the location of the new headquarters in Aalborg. It is important for the board that the ecosystem for energy technology has easy access to collaborating on innovation. That is why we are establishing a total of six offices throughout the country, one of which will be the headquarters in Aalborg, which will be a strong green base for us,” says Peder Østermark Andreasen, Board Chairman of Energy Cluster Denmark:

Knowledge for the world

With a VAT number, for many within the day-to-day management and project managers in Aalborg, the choice of headquarters will support a strong green ecosystem for the benefit of the whole of Denmark. This is what Board Chairman Peder Østermark Andreassen says.

Board member and Vice Dean at Aalborg University Jakob Stoustrup says that the more than 400 energy researchers at Aalborg University look forward to working even more closely with the new energy cluster. We will work to ensure that the research and experiences of all Danish universities benefit the whole of Denmark in the new cluster, and we will use our close collaboration with Danish companies to further strengthen the knowledge bridges,” he says.

The new headquarters for Denmark’s new energy cluster is expected to have an address at the NOVI Science Park in Aalborg. The five other offices will be established in Aarhus, Copenhagen, Esbjerg, Sønderborg and in Triangle Region Denmark.
