Dansk Salt A/S

Dansk Salt A/S is owned by Nobian and is Scandinavia’s only salt producer, located in Assens by the Mariager Fjord.

Since 1963, the salt plant has designed, constructed, and operated/maintained salt caverns in the Danish subsurface. Up to 1,000,000 tonnes of salt are produced annually and supplied through a global value chain, including vacuum salt for use in the chemical industry, food products, and pharmaceutical applications.

Continuous technology development has positioned Dansk Salt A/S as an active player in the balancing market related to its own energy consumption, while also opening up future opportunities for providing external balancing services and large-scale energy storage in its salt caverns.

Energy storage of green energy sources aligns well with the sustainability strategy “Grow Greener Together” and plays an important strategic role in the green energy system for Denmark and the Nordic region.
