Grauballegaard Biogas

The biomass is converted in the plant’s reactors into approximately 7,000,000 cubic metres of biomethane, which is injected into the Danish natural gas grid, where it replaces conventional (“fossil”) natural gas. The biomass used at the plant mainly consists of agricultural waste products such as deep litter and slurry. These are supplied by a large number of farms in the area surrounding the biogas plant.
Grauballegaard is one of the smaller facilities in DBC’s portfolio, but it plays an important role in the development of new technologies that can also be scaled to larger plants. As a result, work is underway to establish Power‑to‑X (PtX) solutions for the production of e‑methane, algae production for omega‑3 fatty acids, and much more. Not all of these technologies will be realised, but Grauballegaard Biogas is particularly well suited for testing new technologies before they are implemented at other facilities on a large scale.
Grauballegaard Biogas has been part of the DBC family since 2020.
