Value for money? Here’s what members think about Energy Cluster Denmark in 2025

Energy Cluster Denmark’s 2025 member survey shows high satisfaction, better accessibility, and a stronger impact from the network. At the same time, it reveals big potential for more activity - especially among smaller, very busy members.

99 percent of members in Denmark’s energy cluster would join again if a new innovation project comes up.

At the same time, overall member satisfaction is 72.2 percent - on par with previous years.

“We exist for our members. The better we know them, the better we can match them with the right innovation project. The fact that almost all past participants want to join again is clear proof that we make green innovation easy - from idea to application and execution,” says Glenda Napier, CEO of Energy Cluster Denmark.

Greater accessibility and a stronger network

Members experienced 8 percent better accessibility to the cluster in 2025 compared to the year before.

They also feel Energy Cluster Denmark increasingly strengthens their network -- a clear sign of the targeted networking efforts over the past year.

“We’re a catalyst for collaboration across the entire energy system. It’s really positive to see the network effect grow, because strong partnerships are exactly what accelerate new solutions,” Glenda Napier adds.
“At the same time, we keep our eyes on the wider sector: regulation, market maturity, and the pace of build-out set high demands, and we must continue to be the fast track to new innovation.”

“Access to skills and solutions we don’t have in-house”

One of the cluster’s members is IKM Ocean Team, working in CCUS and developing solutions for efficient pipe system cleaning to support a more sustainable future. CEO Benjamin Lorenzen says the collaboration has been a game changer:

“Through the cluster’s network and the COLLATE innovation project, we gained access to competencies and solutions we don’t have in-house. It opened doors and built the trust needed to solve customer challenges, and it’s been a new, exciting way to work with development,” says Benjamin Lorenzen, CEO at IKM Ocean Team.

For sensor tech company Sulfilogger, the cluster has also been a shortcut into a new market. Through two innovation projects, the company has opened new doors:

“We saw a clear potential in the energy sector, and through Energy Cluster Denmark we gained access to a network that made our first innovation project - supported by the Danish Business Authority—possible. The energy industry has many barriers for a new player like we were back then. It’s much easier to roll over to Aarhus Vand and take a sample than it is to get access to an oil and gas field in the North Sea. But through the cluster, we could get access,” says Søren Porsgaard, CEO at Sulfilogger.

Full of ideas and eager to get started

The member survey shows a desire for more activity among the less active members - often smaller companies with few hands and very busy days.

To strengthen this, Pernille Jensen was hired earlier this year as Head of Membership at Energy Cluster Denmark. She plays a key role in proactive outreach and systematic follow-up.

“I meet a lot of members, and the meetings with smaller companies—who have loads of ideas and are eager to get going - are especially inspiring. There’s huge potential here. That’s why we’re working systematically on our visibility and direct contact with members, so the step into a network, event, or project feels easy - and so we make sure they get the most possible value from their membership,” says Pernille Jensen.
