Friction welding of strong components

Challenge

Experience shows that friction-welded components are stronger than other welded components, even surpassing fully moulded elements in strength.

Can the use of friction-welded components increase durability and strength, thus making it possible to reduce material consumption?

Solution idea

This project will involve research to improve the welding of components with new technology. Flexibility, stress tests and mathematical models will be analysed in several different material combinations.
