About the project

Challenge
To date, Stiesdal Hydrogen has developed and built four HydroGen Electrolyzers in a zero-series production and is now facing full-scale serial production. Prior to serial production, a number of design adjustments must be made based on ongoing innovation, learning, and feedback from test sites, customer sites, and subcontractors.

Solution
A number of changes are therefore pending, which can advantageously be incorporated into the design before serial production begins. The purpose of these changes is to increase efficiency and functionality and to reduce costs.

These changes are of significant value to the hydrogen industry, as the learnings can be carried forward to other manufacturers in the sector and help qualify subcontractors’ services within Power-to-X (PtX). Several of the suppliers used by Stiesdal Hydrogen are also used by others in the industry or have clear potential to be used by other players in the sector.

Impact
HydroGen Electrolyzers in serial production with increased efficiency, improved functionality, and reduced costs.

Geographically, the effects of the project will be generated in Southern Jutland.

Stiesdal Hydrogen’s business case is expected to improve by 5–10 percentage points following the successful completion of the project.

The CO₂ reduction achieved by producing green hydrogen compared with hydrogen produced from natural gas amounts to approximately 12 kg CO₂ per kg of hydrogen. Approximately 50 kWh is required to produce 1 kg of green hydrogen.
