About the project
Solution
- The partners in Common Equipment Towers have designed and tested shared transport and storage equipment for offshore wind turbine towers.
- The finished equipment is standardized and can be mounted on different truck brands and rented through a leasing system.
- The new standardized solution reduces costs in the wind industry for transporting wind turbine tower sections, as the supply chain can use the same equipment to transport tower sections from different suppliers—similar to standard containers or the Euro pallet in other sectors.
- Download the shared design
Impact
- The innovation project has resulted in a new design that can be used for all tower sections (so-called Ø4–7) of up to 200 tonnes.
- The new base for tower sections fits 13 different flange types. It is easy to handle and simple to manufacture, as the required welding work is minimal.
- The design is freely available and can be used by anyone without restrictions.
