About the project
Challenge
Power-to-X(PtX) is a key enabler in the transition to a carbon-neutral society. A race is currently ongoing to develop new and more efficient components for handling, converting, and storing different energy sources. Here, hydrogen based on alkaline electrolysis, applyinggreen electricity from renewable resources, is of utmost importance. To be able to develop, optimze and produce new and more energy efficient electrodes it is necessary to develop reliable and robust test cells.
Solution
The purpose of the project is to develop a robust, reliable, and compact flow-based test cell capable of evaluating the performance of novel electrodes for alkaline electrolysis at elevated tem-peratures and pressures.
Effect
HydrogenPro and Advanced Surface Plating expect to be able to lower OPEX for hydrogen produced by alkaline electrolysis by approx. 14%. The development of new electrode materials requires access to reliable test cells, which this project will ensure.
The project was financed by the Ministry of Education and Research.
