About the project

Challenge

How do you create a full-scale facility that is economically viable to build? And what about the business model? Today, it is considered a prerequisite to build a complete business model behind the investment in a full-scale facility that all value streams around a pyrolysis plant are included in the business model. The technology around the pyrolysis plant itself is currently being tested, while crucial knowledge regarding value creation in the preceding process leading up to the pyrolysis process is still lacking.

Solution

The project's goal is to establish a test and demonstration plant for biomass separation, focusing on creating the optimal basis for CO2 storage and utilization. The ambition is to establish a full-scale pyrolysis plant at the Vesthimmerland Biogas location. Prior to establishing a full-scale plant, the entire business model must be uncovered to ensure that all value streams in the process are fully optimized.

Therefore, the project aims to develop some of the technological potentials within the agricultural sector, with the purpose of storing and utilizing CO2, and with the vision of creating a greener agriculture, both locally and nationally, as a catalyst for the overall effort.

Impact

Establishment of a full-scale pyrolysis plant at the Vesthimmerland Biogas location.

The project is part of the Northern Jutland business flagship, CO2Vision, which is managed by a consortium consisting of Energy Cluster Denmark, Erhvervshus Nordjylland, Aalborg University, Aalborg Portland A/S, Arbejdsmarkedskontor Midt/Nord, Business Region North Denmark, Green Hub Denmark, EVIDA, and Norddanmark's EU office.

CO2Vision is funded by REACT-EU funds.
