The aim of the project is to develop and describe a method and guidance for the selection and design of a current converter that can meet or exceed emission requirements in the 9 kHz to 150 kHz frequency range, and which can coexist with a large number of other converters in (e.g.) an office area, a household, or mains power from the same safety group / supply board.

The project supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in integrating 3D printing as a new technology into their business models and product portfolios targeted at the wind industry.

The project will investigate how the Nini field in the North Sea can be used for CO2 storage. The underground soil conditions must be investigated so that the risk of leakage and other risks can be identified and prevented. The project will also demonstrate the cost savings that can be achieved by using previous oil and gas fields for storage rather than new excavations. In addition, the project must demonstrate a safe and cost-effective transport of CO2 from the capture site to storage.

Molten Salt Storage (MOSS) is a new solution for a Giga-sized energy storage based on liquid hydroxide salts. The solution is extremely efficient and could be the first thermal giga-size energy storage to become commercially widespread.

PURIX is a Danish manufacturer of refrigeration and air conditioning systems based on natural refrigerants and the use of thermally renewable energy instead of electricity. The innovation project will develop a market-mature compact and attractive energy storage based on a PURIX Plug & Play Solar Cooling and Instant District Cooling System. That is, a new absorption heat pump, which is based on solar energy; a storage of energy in switching materials (PCM) to provide cooling in times without sun.

A series of preliminary analyses indicate that decentralized carbon capture at biogas plants and combustion plants in North Jutland, combined with the area's excellent renewable energy (RE) resources and future harbor facilities in Hirtshals, could produce and deliver competitive PTX fuels to meet the goal of CO2-neutral shipping. The project consists of several subprojects, including investment in a CO2 capture plant and CO2 and LNG liquefaction at GrønGas Hjørring, a business case for establishing a 30–70 MW methanol plant at Hirtshals Harbor, as well as the analysis and optimization of CO2 capture and the optimal CO2 transport to Hirtshals Harbor.

Greenport Scandinavia builds on the ambitions of the North Jutland business hub CO2Vision and the foundation laid when Project Greensand demonstrated the first CO2 injection on the Danish continental shelf in the North Sea in March 2023.

In this innovation project, a new sensor solution for process monitoring of hydrogen in applications such as electrolysis plants is being developed and demonstrated. The advantages of the new sensor type include long-term stability and internal diagnostics based on signal redundancy. These properties could significantly increase uptime and thus productivity on hydrogen production systems.

This project involves generating a concept whereby data from a variety of sources is collected in an AI model for a particular geographical region where the installation of a wind park is desired. The solution will optimise the selection of the best sites and improve the operation of individual parks by minimising the need to implement mitigating measures, thereby minimising interruptions to operation.

There are a number of specific but varying requirements from companies working with permanent CO2 storage in underground reservoirs. However, it remains unclear what specific impurity standards each facility will need to meet for the collected CO2 gas. Therefore, it is essential to prepare systems for managing the quality of the product gas.

The OASIS (Offshore Accelerator for System Integration and Storage) project addresses the challenge of increasing innovation capacity and market readiness for SMEs in the North Sea region, specifically within the offshore energy sector. The unpredictable nature of renewable energy makes it necessary to develop smarter and more efficient energy management solutions, which are crucial for supporting affordable energy prices for end-users and showcasing the potential of various offshore renewable energy technologies.

With the above challenge in mind, there is a need for a smart solution for the drainage grate. The envisioned grate, for which a patent application has been filed, will be automatically raised and lowered. It will be equipped with a highly durable battery, sensors, and wireless communication with the shower panel. Consequently, a smart drainage system needs to be developed for automated filtration and UV irradiation.

New autonomous drone platform for safe, green offshore energy production

The use of PtX for passenger ships (RoPAX, ferries) and smaller vessels (fishing) will depend on e-methanol, as ammonia will not be qualified for safety reasons in the next 10-15 years. Therefore, Carbon Capture and Utilization – CCUS (for the first three port types) and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) (for the fourth type) will be crucial for the project. The project will focus on ports in Northern Jutland (Hanstholm and Frederikshavn), as there will be a natural collaboration with the “Erhversfyrtårn Nordjylland – CCUS”.

In this project, all stakeholders in the value chain will work closely together to ensure a focused approach to developing and testing methods that can drive improvements in commercial and real-time production environments.
