Tech Talk: SafePtX

25. oktober 2024 – 10:00 – 11:00 Online

In the transition process of moving the worlds energy consumption to the use of renewable energy resources, Power-to-X technologies are considered pivotal as it allows for fluctuating energy sources, like wind and solar, to be converted into a stable storage medium that can be used in various energy consuming applications. The safe and efficient generation of hydrogen is imperative in this transition process. Here alkaline electrolysis is generally considered to be a key technology. For safe electrolyser operation it is imperative to constantly monitor gas crossover — specifically the H2 concentration in the O2 flow. However, the conditions in a pressurized alkaline Electrolyser are extremely harsh.

At this webinar, our work on developing a novel sensor for electrolysis will be presented. This involves extensive testing on a full scale level and benchmark testing of the technology developed. The SafePtX H2 sensor has shown great reliability and robustness and provided valuable data on electrolyser performance.

To gain market access to producers and other stakeholders within the hydrogen generation industry it is a prerequisite that products have the correct regulatory approvals, such as ATEX and SIL (and SIL2) certificates, which are important regulations for products and installations connected to Power-to-X. They can appear complicated and cumbersome, but DBI will present short guides designed to navigate these regulations, as part of the project has been focused on producing simple guidelines for obtaining these approvals.
