Why we focus on Total Cost of Ownership
TCO (total cost of ownership) helps buyers and owners determine the direct and indirect costs of a product or service, by calculating the optimal relationship between price and quality. Often there is a natural relationship between price and quality, and therefore it might make sense to buy the more expensive product, if it lasts longer and/or is cheaper to operate. These TCO calculations are essential for any industrial organization that wishes to keep total costs at a low level whilst ensuring the highest possible quality.
The term TCO covers all costs related to a product in its lifetime – purchase, operation, maintenance and disposal. By focusing on total cost instead of the costs in one stage of the product lifecycle, you ensure a complete overview of the costs that are a part of determining which solution is the right one at a given point in time. In order to integrate TCO on a daily basis and get it incorporated into the dialogue with our customers, we have created this TCO-community, where we will gather all relevant material.
