However, this emerging field faces significant challenges, including the development of electrolyzer technologies, high capital, and operational costs, and evolving regulatory frameworks. Despite these hurdles, recent advancements in technology and engineering trials are paving the way for scalable solutions. This talk provides a comprehensive overview of the current state, challenges, and future opportunities in offshore hydrogen production, highlighting pathways toward sustainable energy integration.

Shi is a specialist of PtX, smart grid technologies and integrated energy system solutions. Currently, he is leading Work Package 4 in the Offshore Energy Hub project, focusing on cost-efficient PtX integration to enhance energy system resilience.
