About the project

Challenge
To accelerate the green transition, the energy system must be flexible and capable of interacting with other sectors, such as district heating.

By connecting multiple parts of the energy system (known as sector coupling), the combined system can make the most of available electricity when it is abundant.

Solution
The aim of this subproject is to develop an advanced artificial intelligence-based model that can assist the industry and district heating companies in enabling sector coupling with the electricity grid through predictions of energy consumption in the short, medium, and long term.

The outcome of the project will be a pilot model that can be applied to various levels and types of sector coupling in the energy system.

The target audience for the result includes utility companies in both the electricity and district heating networks, as well as relevant partners in the industry. EWII and TREFOR are providing data and infrastructure for the project, but they are not financial partners.
