Drone Airfoil Manufacturing Advancement

Challenge

The drone industry is currently facing significant challenges, including the need for improved performance, lower costs and increased sustainability in manufacturing processes. The DAMA project addresses these issues by using FIBER DRIVE, a fully automated sustainable composite manufacturing method for the production of drone profiles. The solution improves the strength-to-weight ratio of support profiles, reduces production costs through automation and complies with global environmental targets.

Solution

The DAMA project is aimed at the growing drone market, which has experienced exponential growth. With the drone market expected to expand significantly, with an estimated market size of over $40 billion and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 15%, the demand for high manufacturability and scalable production methods is imperative. The project is expected to revolutionize the drone manufacturing sector by delivering high-quality, performance-optimized components at the pace this dynamic market demands.

Effect

After the end of the project, the partner group continues their collaborative efforts by collaborating with researchers from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This alliance aims to deepen engagement with academic research, resulting in an environment of continuous innovation and scientific exploration in drone technology.
