ECO-RAN

Challenge

An increasing number of mobile network masts has prompted an increased focus on power consumption and created the need for smarter mast control, so as to save power.

Solution idea

Given this increased focus, an automated, AI-based system must be developed to optimise and improve the efficiency of mobile networks. When consumption falls, the signal and mast power can be turned off or reduced. When consumption rises again, they can be restored. The goal is to develop a saleable software package with a complete AI control system that can be embedded in the various mobile network operator masts and antenna systems.

Project deliverables

  1. Model for system architecture and survey of mobile network KPIs
  2. 1.5 Data available
  3. Algorithms ready for use
  4. 2.5. Simulation environment developed
  5. System integration, testing, and validation in live networks
  6. Plan for commercialization and business model
