About the project
Gear Drive Platform is a platform concept for energy-efficient electric power trains for smaller vehicles. The purpose of the project is to develop and test a “plug-and-play” platform concept for energy-efficient, cost-competitive electric power trains for smaller vehicles with a special focus on automotive robots and wheelchairs. In a modularized structure, the concept is developed with its own scalable flat gear solution with high efficiency, its own brushless motor solution, and a dedicated motor control.
Challenge
A ‘plug-and-play’ platform concept for energy-efficient and cost-competitive electric power trains for smaller vehicles, with a special focus on automotive robots and wheelchairs, will be developed and tested. The concept will be developed in a modularised structure, with its own scalable flat gear solution with high efficiency, its own brushless motor solution, and a dedicated motor control.
Solution idea
The idea and development will be a platform concept for electric power trains that suits small vehicles’ traction needs. The main focus is on traction in the 0-200 kg category, and if possible within the framework of the project, also in the 200-500 kg and 500-1000 kg categories.
Project deliverables
State-of-the-art analysis for engine technology and engine management, detailed specification of customer needs, prepare concept design / system architecture for early prototype, prepare design for operational prototype, prepare final design for market-ready platform concept.
Implement proof-of-concept for own flat gear solution, produce prototype for own flat gear solution for testing, and produce own market-ready flat gear solution.
Carry out operational prototype testing of own solutions for flat gears and brushless motor solution with selected test users, carry out final trial of own solutions for flat gears, brushless motor solution, and motor control with selected test users.
This project is financed by Energy Cluster Denmark’s Industrial Electronics Innovation (IEI) support programme. It offers three years of support to allow small- and medium-sized businesses to collaboratively develop innovative electronic products focused on energy optimisation. The IEI project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
