About the project

Challenge

Meter data from consumption meters and energy company meters in their own infrastructure are typically difficult to use outside the settlement or operational purposes for which they were originally collected.

As a urban development company, By&Havn would like to see more stakeholders having access to this data in an easy and efficient way to accelerate innovation and new digital energy solutions in the neighborhoods the company is developing.

Solution

The project establishes new and innovative ways to access energy data from infrastructure, energy-producing and consuming equipment, and homes.

The project makes five new data streams available on energydata.dk and implements a scalable method for managing data streams that takes into account sensitivity regarding operations and available data quality, and is accessible to third-party data users.

Impact

  • CO2 emissions per consumed kWh will be reduced by 5-10% in homes.
  • With detailed insight into energy flows, it is expected that homeowners' associations will expand the solar capacity on buildings.
  • Theoretically, reactivation of the battery in Nordhavn is possible, which could contribute to 430 kWh of capacity being available for operations (frequency services) and the development of DSO (Distribution System Operator) flexibility services.
