Offshore Energy Hubs

Facts
About the project
Challenge
The politically approved energy islands (hubs) in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea will be the world's first energy islands and are a cornerstone of Denmark's ambition to achieve its climate goals. These renewable energy hubs on Danish territory will supply Europe with green electricity. As the largest infrastructure project in Denmark's history, with a total cost of DKK 210 billion, the energy islands represent a monumental undertaking. To ensure stable and cost-effective operation, innovative solutions and advanced control strategies are required.
Solution
Control solutions for stable and robust operation of energy islands, combined with cost-effective design of offshore wind farms integrated with Power-to-X.
Impact
- Increased uptime for energy islands of up to 99.99%.
- 2–4% reduction in conversion losses through optimized interaction between wind turbines and hydrogen production.
