Result

The project resulted in the development of the digital service NIVI IQ, which now helps companies report on climate in an easier and more structured manner. The solution was validated through pilot projects with several partner companies and now delivers automated, valid data and reports that meet climate reporting requirements. Through the platform, companies can quickly and accurately gain an overview of their CO2 emissions, while also receiving actionable recommendations that make it easier to reduce emissions. Challenge

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a global necessity to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change. While many companies recognize the need for sustainability, they often lack the necessary insights and tools to make informed decisions regarding emissions reduction. Existing CO2 calculation and emissions management platforms often fail to provide a comprehensive understanding of the consequences of different choices and the potential for emissions reduction within companies.

Solution

The proposed solution aimed to overcome these challenges by leveraging industrial LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) databases and combining them with company-specific data to provide precise, tailored, and actionable insights. By applying advanced data analysis and modeling techniques, this solution would analyze the environmental impact of different decisions made (including energy efficiency) and quantify the resulting greenhouse gas emissions. This insight allowed companies to make informed decisions and understand the potential benefits of alternative choices aimed at emissions reduction.
